Therapy Approach

With a deep commitment to a holistic treatment approach, Dr. Berry provides a supportive and validating environment for her clients by incorporating the individual’s broad diverse facets into her clinical approach. She provides an open, safe, and collaborative space for her clients to reflect on their life and improve their wellbeing. Dr. Berry works with her clients to understand their worldview, goals, and reasons for seeking therapy.

She tailors her treatment approach to meet the needs of each client she works with. Dr. Berry has been trained and uses the following forms of therapy: Relational-Cultural Therapy (RCT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Clinical Experience

Dr. Berry has worked with diverse populations in a variety of settings, including private practices, community mental health centers, and college counseling centers. Dr. Berry enjoys working with adults with a wide range of mental health and life concerns, including, stress management, interpersonal relationship challenges, anxiety, mood disorders, identity development, trauma, self-esteem, and other life experiences. She also enjoys working with couples and families.

In addition to providing psychotherapy services to individuals and couples, Dr. Berry has worked as a Supervision and Training Coordinator, supervising doctoral and post-doctoral students in their clinical work.

Commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

While working towards her doctoral degree, Dr. Berry served as a member of Midwestern University’s Diversity Enrichment Task Force to promote inclusivity, awareness and build cultural humility among clinical psychology students and faculty. Her doctoral research explored mental health stigma among racial and ethnic minority college students.

Dr. Berry has experience working as a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion coordinator. She is passionate about bringing awareness to mental health professionals regarding how race, ethnicity, and culture impact mental health. Respect for and understanding of the diversity of individual differences and experiences is foundational to her clinical approach. She believes that it is the duty of mental health professionals to unpack their privilege, understand their salient identities in the context of systemic power disparities and engage in intentional self-reflection. 

Education

Dr. Natalie Berry received her doctorate from Midwestern University ’s Clinical Psychology program. She earned her Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychology from Loyola University Maryland and her Bachelor of Science degree from Loyola University Chicago. Dr. Berry completed her Doctoral Internship at the University of Kentucky.
